Too Much Salt, Said Flo
Flo is making soup, but the sugar and salt got swapped, and so did a few other things!
Flo the fox was cooking soup for dinner. She chopped peas. She stirred and stirred. The kitchen smelled almost ready. ‘Now for the seasoning,’ said Flo, humming.
But Flo wasn’t looking carefully. She grabbed the wrong jar. In went mint leaves instead of parsley! Flo gave the soup a big stir. It looked okay. It smelled okay. She didn’t know about the mistake yet.
Soon, Theo the piglet and Gia the giraffe arrived, rubbing their tummies. ‘Soup’s ready!’ said Flo proudly. Everybody sat down. Everybody picked up a spoon.
Theo took a big slurp. Theo’s eyes went round. Gia took a mouthful. Gia’s whiskers curled. It was fresh and cool! ‘Hmm,’ said Theo. ‘It’s... Interesting.’
Flo took a taste. ‘Oh no!’ she gasped. ‘I used the wrong jar!’ Her ears went pink. She wanted to hide under the table. But Gia burst into giggles, and then Theo did too.
‘Let’s fix it!’ said Theo. They added a bit of this and a bit of that. Some extra peas, a squeeze of lemon, a pinch of the right seasoning. They tasted again. ‘Perfect!’
They ate every drop. ‘It’s the best soup ever,’ said Theo. ‘Even better than the first one,’ said Gia. Flo laughed. ‘Okay,’ she said, ‘but next time, I’m reading the labels.’
