Vik the Hiding Octopus
Vik the octopus is the best hider in the sea. Can anybody find him?
Vik the octopus could do a clever trick. He could change colour to match anything! Today, he wanted to play hide-and-seek with Tara and Flo.
‘One, two, three, four, five,’ counted Tara, covering his eyes. Vik wriggled away through the water. He swam to the blue water. And he turned blue! His arms and body blended in.
Tara opened his eyes. ‘Ready or not, here I come!’ Tara swam over the sandy bed. ‘Are you under this shell? No.’ Tara looked behind the rock. ‘No.’ Tara looked inside a bottle. ‘No.’
Flo looked up and down. ‘Where could Vik be?’ Flo wondered. They looked all over the sea. Nothing. They looked a second time. Nothing. They were completely stumped.
Then Tara giggled. ‘I can see two eyes!’ Two big eyes were peeking out from the blue water, and they were blinking. Vik burst out laughing, turned back to normal, and everyone cheered.
‘Your turn to hide!’ said Vik. And so they played again and again, until the water grew dark. They went home with tired fins and happy hearts, and all dreamed of colourful sea games.
