Who Is Making That Noise, Amy?
Amy hears a strange knock in the night. Who could it be?
It was night, and the stars were out. Amy the hedgehog was snuggled in bed, nearly asleep. Then, knock, knock, knock. Amy sat up. ‘What was that?’
Amy pulled the blanket up to her nose. Knock, knock, knock went the noise again. Amy tiptoed to the door and peeked outside. Nobody there. Just the dark.
Amy went to wake Luca the bear. ‘I heard something,’ whispered Amy. ‘Let’s find out what it is,’ said Luca. ‘Together, we aren’t afraid.’
They crept along the path. Knock, knock, knock went the noise. It was coming from behind a big tree. Amy held Luca’s hand tightly. ‘One, two, three... Look!’
And there was Jess the frog! ‘Oh, hello,’ said Jess. ‘I’m sorry to wake you. I had lost the way in the dark.’ Amy felt silly for being afraid. She smiled.
They took Jess home for warm milk and a cosy blanket. Soon all three friends were fast asleep. And the only noise in the night was gentle snoring.
