Whoosh! Pippa’s Windy Picnic

A big gust of wind takes the picnic away. Can the friends catch it?

It was a lovely sunny day, and Pippa the penguin, Mabel the monkey and Dani the duck were having a picnic. They had a pile of honey cookies!

But then, WHOOSH! A big gust of wind blew across the meadow. The picnic blanket flew up, up, up, and away went a pile of honey cookies!

‘Stop!’ cried Pippa. The friends ran after the picnic. They ran over the hill. They ran around the pond. They ran under the big old tree.

Mabel jumped and missed. Dani leapt and landed in a bush. Pippa tripped over a log and rolled down the hill, giggling all the way.

Finally, the wind stopped. The picnic blanket drifted down onto the top of the hill, and landed with a soft flop. There was only a little bit left, with grass all over it.

‘It’s a bit squished,’ said Dani. ‘And a bit leafy,’ said Mabel. ‘But it’s still delicious!’ laughed Pippa. They shared every crumb together as the sun went down.
