Wren’s Mermaid’s Missing Pearl
Wren the mermaid lost her pearl necklace in the deep. Her fishy friends join the search!
Every morning, Wren the mermaid wore her beautiful pearl necklace. Her grandmother had made it for her. It shimmered like a tiny moon. But one morning, it was gone!
Wren searched her room. She searched her garden. She looked under the sea cucumbers and behind the sea urchins. Nothing! ‘It’s lost,’ she sighed. A tear drifted up as a bubble.
Cosmo the crab bobbed over. ‘Don’t be sad,’ said Cosmo. ‘We’ll help you look.’ And so Jess the jellyfish joined them, and the three set off to search.
They swam to the coral reef and looked in every nook. They swam over the sandy bed and sifted through every shell. They searched for a long, long time, until the water turned dark green.
‘Wait,’ said Jess. ‘Look over there!’ A tiny gleam peeked out from hidden in a starfish’s hug. It was the pearl! Wren reached down very carefully and scooped it up. ‘My necklace!’ she cried.
Wren clasped the necklace around her neck. She hugged Cosmo and Jess tightly. ‘Thank you. I don’t know what I’d do without you.’ ‘That’s what friends are for,’ said Cosmo.
That evening, Wren threw a party. There was seaweed pie and bubble pop. And in the middle of it all, her pearl glowed bright, reminding her of her grandmother, and of the friends who had helped her.
