The trees were wearing red, orange and gold. All day, leaves floated down, tick, tick, tick. Yuki and Maya the pony took rakes to the garden. ‘Let’s make a leaf pile!’ said Yuki.
They raked and raked. The pile grew as tall as Maya. Then as tall as Yuki. Then Sana the squirrel popped out of the pile. ‘Surprise!’ she laughed. Sana had been napping inside.
‘Let’s jump!’ said Yuki. One, two, three, and WHOOSH! They flew into the leaves. Crunch! Leaves flew everywhere like confetti. They giggled so much they couldn’t stop.
When they were tired, they sat down and made a leaf crown from the prettiest leaves. Yuki found a golden one the size of a plate. ‘Look at this!’ she cried.
As the sun went down, a gust of wind blew the leaf pile all over again. ‘Let’s do it again tomorrow!’ said Maya. And they did.
