Alfie the dinosaur was having a sleepover! Maya the bee and Faye the frog were coming, and they’d brought pillows, blankets and teddies.
First, they built a blanket fort. Then they had a midnight feast of juicy apple slices. Alfie laughed so much that his big tail knocked over the lamp.
Then it was time for bed. Alfie climbed into his big, comfy bed. ‘Goodnight,’ said Maya. ‘Goodnight,’ said Faye. The light went off, and the room became very dark.
Alfie lay awake. He thought about how very big and dark the night was. His tail twitched. ‘Are you awake?’ whispered Maya. ‘I can’t sleep,’ said Alfie.
‘I can’t either,’ said Faye. ‘I have an idea,’ said Maya, and pulled out a glow-worm lantern. The room filled with a warm, soft glow. The dark didn’t feel big anymore.
The three friends snuggled together, looking at the light until their eyes grew heavy. Soon, all that could be heard was three tiny snores. And one great big dino snore.
The little lesson
