Amara and the Jug of Water

Amara is thirsty, but the water is too low in the jug. A clever idea saves the day!

It was a hot, dry day. Amara the hedgehog was very thirsty. She flew and flew, but all the ponds had dried up. At last, she spotted a jug under a tree.

Amara peeked inside. There was water, but only at the very bottom. Her beak couldn’t reach. She tried to tip the jug, but it was too heavy. Amara was sad and tired.

Then Amara had a clever idea. She picked up a pebble and dropped it in. Plink! The water rose a little. Amara dropped another. Plink! And another.

Plink, plink, plink! Soon the water rose to the top. Amara dipped her beak and drank, and drank. β€˜Ahh,’ sighed Amara. β€˜Thinking helps more than worrying.’
