Arjun Plants a Tiny Seed
Arjun plants a seed and waits. And waits. And waits some more.
In spring, Toby the turtle gave Arjun a tiny seed. βItβs a sunflower,β said Toby. βPlant it in the soil, give it water and sun, and be patient.β Arjun dug a little hole.
Every morning, Arjun ran to look. Nothing. Not even a sprout. βIs it broken?β he asked Sia. βPlants take time,β said Sia. Arjun sighed, but watered the soil once more.
A week passed. Then two. Then, one morning, Arjun saw something green poking up. A tiny shoot, no bigger than a thumb. Arjun gasped. βItβs growing!β Sia danced round and round.
Soon the shoot was a stem, with leaves and then a bud. Arjun watered it, sang to it and shielded it from the wind. And one sunny day, the bud opened, and there was a beautiful sunflower.
βYou waited so patiently,β said Toby. Arjun smiled at the sunflower. βIt was worth every day,β he said. And he saved a seed for next spring.
