The trees were wearing red, orange and gold. All day, leaves floated down, tick, tick, tick. Tilly and Ravi the squirrel took rakes to the garden. ‘Let’s make a leaf pile!’ said Tilly.
They raked and raked. The pile grew as tall as Ravi. Then as tall as Tilly. Then Dexter the deer popped out of the pile. ‘Surprise!’ he laughed. Dexter had been napping inside.
‘Let’s jump!’ said Tilly. One, two, three, and WHOOSH! They flew into the leaves. Crunch! Leaves flew everywhere like confetti. They giggled so much they couldn’t stop.
When they were tired, they sat down and made a leaf necklace from the prettiest leaves. Tilly found a golden one the size of a plate. ‘Look at this!’ she cried.
As the sun went down, a gust of wind blew the leaf pile all over again. ‘Let’s do it again tomorrow!’ said Ravi. And they did.
