Caleb woke up and the world was white. Snow had fallen in the night, thick and soft. ‘SNOW!’ shouted Caleb. He put on his boots and ran outside.
Holly the hedgehog was already there. They rolled a big ball of snow for the body, and a middle ball, and a little ball for the head. Roll, roll, roll! They stacked them up.
For a nose, they used a carrot. For a hat, they found a flowerpot. For eyes, two shiny stones. ‘He needs a name,’ said Holly. ‘Mr Frost!’ said Caleb.
They made snow angels and had a snowball fight. They slid down the hill on a tray. Their cheeks were pink and their noses were cold. ‘This is the best day!’ said Caleb.
At night, Caleb watched Mr Frost from the window. ‘Goodnight,’ he whispered. And with hot cocoa in hand, Caleb dreamed of snow all night.
