Daisy, Detective, and the Vanished Biscuits
Someone has taken every cookie from the cookie jar! Daisy the detective is on the case.
Daisy the detective put on a hat and picked up a magnifying glass. ‘A case!’ she said. Sana the squirrel was standing in the kitchen with a very sad face. ‘Someone has taken all my cookies,’ said Sana.
‘First, we look for clues,’ said Daisy. She knelt down and examined the floor. There was tiny paw prints in the flour! ‘Aha,’ said Daisy. She wrote it in her notebook. ‘Follow me.’
They followed the clue out of the back door and down the garden path. Past the rosebush. Past the old well. Round the corner, right up to a small blue shed. Sana gulped. ‘Someone’s inside!’
Daisy knocked softly. The door creaked open. And there was Zoe the zebra, wearing an apron, surrounded by plates and plates of cookies. ‘Oh!’ Zoe said. ‘You’ve found me!’
‘I’m so sorry,’ said Zoe. ‘I borrowed your cookies for the bake sale for the animal shelter. I wanted to ask you, but you were out. I was going to bake some more to replace them.’ Sana blinked.
‘You could have just asked,’ said Sana. ‘I’d have baked more! That’s a very good thing to do.’ Daisy closed the notebook. ‘Case closed,’ she said. ‘No crime here, only good cookies.’
So everybody helped bake the rest. And on the day of the bake sale for the animal shelter, there were more than a hundred cookies to share. Daisy was given the very first one, as payment for solving the case.
