Daisy Finds a Voice
Daisy has a tiny voice. One day, it turns out to be just the right size.
In the jungle, everyone had a big voice. Basil the elephant could roar. Tara the tiger could screech. But Daisy the duck could only make a squeak.
βSpeak up!β said everyone. Daisy tried and tried, but only a squeak came out. Daisy felt sad. βI wish I had a big voice,β she said. Basil gave Daisy a hug. βYou are perfect as you are,β he said.
That night, a storm rolled in. Thunder boomed and rain poured. Baby Tara was lost in the thick leaves. All the big voices called, but the thunder drowned them out.
Daisy listened. Between thunder claps, she heard a faint cry. It was high and thin, the kind of sound that big voices couldnβt hear. Daisy called back with a squeak. And Tara heard it.
Following the tiny sound, Tara found the way home. Everyone cheered. βOnly Daisy could make a sound that carries through the storm!β said Basil. Daisy grinned.
