Dylan’s Show and Tell

It’s show and tell day at school. Dylan has a mystery box. What’s inside?

It was show and tell day. Everyone had brought something special. Nina had a toy dinosaur. Another child had a big book. Dylan held a little box tightly, with a secret inside.

‘Now, Dylan,’ said Stan the bear. ‘What have you brought?’ Dylan felt a bit shy. His thing was so small. What if no one liked it? But he stood up bravely.

Dylan opened the box very slowly. The whole class leaned forward. Inside was a pine cone! Dylan said, ‘I found it on my walk to school. It made me smile, so I wanted to show you.’

‘Ooooh!’ said the children. Nina said, ‘Can I hold it?’ Everyone wanted to see. Dylan passed it round carefully, and every face lit up with wonder.

‘What a lovely thing to share,’ said Stan. Dylan beamed. The best things aren’t always big. Sometimes, they’re small and found by someone who looks closely.
