The Great Pancake Flip of Layla
Layla tries to flip a pancake, and it lands in a very surprising place.
It was Pancake Day. Layla mixed flour, eggs and milk in a big bowl. Pip the puppy stirred. The batter was smooth and creamy. ‘Time to cook!’ said Layla.
Layla poured batter into the pan. Sizzle! It turned golden. ‘Now for the flip,’ she said proudly. She gave the pan a big toss. WHOOSH! The pancake flew up, up, up.
And it landed on the window! Splat! Pip stared. Layla stared. Then they both burst out laughing. ‘Try again!’ said Pip. This time, Layla flipped it just right.
Soon there was a tall stack of pancakes. They added sweet syrup, juicy strawberries and a big blob of cream. ‘Perfect,’ sighed Layla. And that was the last thing either of them said for a long, delicious while.
