Freddie Hunts the Missing Crown
The royal crown has vanished! Freddie follows the clues round the castle.
One morning, Freddie woke up and the royal crown was gone! It was not on its cushion. It was not under the bed. βSomebody has taken it,β said Freddie. βCome on, Yara. Letβs find it.β
First, they found a trail of tiny, sparkly footprints on the floor. βLook!β said Yara. They followed the footprints up the stairs and down the corridor, round and round the castle.
Then Freddie found a golden thread caught on a door. And then a shiny feather. And then a smudge of jam. Each clue was a little piece of the puzzle. Freddie thought hard.
Finally the clues led to the bottom of the fish pond. And there was the crown! It had been taken by a duckling who thought it was a hoop. It was only borrowed, not stolen.
Freddie wasnβt cross. He gently took the crown back and gave Mabel a shiny button to keep instead. Mabel smiled and skipped away. Yara said, βYouβre a great detective, Freddie.β
That evening, Freddie put the crown safely on its cushion. He smiled. A good king or queen is not the one with the crown, but the one who stays calm and solves the problem.
