Kit’s Runaway Picnic

A big gust of wind takes the picnic away. Can the friends catch it?

It was a lovely sunny day, and Kit the kitten, Wally the penguin and Lola the lamb were having a picnic. They had a warm pizza!

But then, WHOOSH! A big gust of wind blew across the meadow. The picnic blanket flew up, up, up, and away went a warm pizza!

β€˜Stop!’ cried Kit. The friends ran after the picnic. They ran over the hill. They ran around the pond. They ran under the big old tree.

Wally jumped and missed. Lola leapt and landed in a bush. Kit tripped over a log and rolled down the hill, giggling all the way.

Finally, the wind stopped. The picnic blanket drifted down onto the top of the hill, and landed with a soft flop. There was only a little bit left, with grass all over it.

β€˜It’s a bit squished,’ said Lola. β€˜And a bit leafy,’ said Wally. β€˜But it’s still delicious!’ laughed Kit. They shared every crumb together as the sun went down.
