Lemonade for Everyone, Says Caleb
Caleb opens a lemonade stand to earn money, but ends up giving away more than he sells.
It was a boiling hot day. Caleb set up a lemonade stand outside the house with a sign that said, ‘Lemonade 10p’. He was saving up for a toy rocket.
The first customer was Arjun, who had been playing football. Arjun was red-faced and thirsty but had no money. Caleb filled a cup anyway. ‘It’s on the house,’ he said. Arjun gulped it down with a grin.
Then Gia the bear came by, looking hot and tired. Caleb gave her a cup and a seat in the shade. ‘You’re very kind,’ said Gia. ‘Please, have a second.’
By evening, Caleb had given away nearly every cup. Hardly any coins were in the jar. But Caleb felt warm inside. ‘Maybe I’ll save up another day,’ he thought.
Just then, Gia came back, carrying something wrapped in paper. ‘I was thinking about your kindness,’ said Gia. Inside was a toy rocket. ‘For the kindest lemonade seller in town.’
The little lesson
