Remy’s Cosy Igloo
Remy builds an igloo with her family and has a snug night under the northern lights.
Remy lived in a land of ice and snow. One bright, cold morning, Remy said, ‘Let’s build an igloo!’ With Dexter the duck, he cut blocks of snow and stacked them in a ring.
Block by block, the dome grew higher. Soon there was a round white house with a little doorway. Inside, it was dim and snug. Remy laid down furs, a lantern and hot soup.
That night, they ate hot soup and told stories. Outside the wind howled, but in the igloo it was warm. Dexter snuggled up. ‘This is the best house,’ he said, yawning.
Then Remy crept outside. The sky was dancing! Green and purple ribbons of light swirled across the stars, the northern lights. Remy gasped. Dexter came out too. They stood quietly and watched.
Later, tucked in under the furs, Remy whispered, ‘Goodnight, igloo.’ And as the aurora flickered over the snow, Remy fell asleep with a smile.
