The Tiny Hero Called Dot
All the big superheroes are too big to fit. But Dot is just the right size!
In Superhero City, there were many heroes. Lola the elephant was super strong. Cleo the cow could run super fast. And Dot the duck? Dot was very, very small.
‘You can’t be a superhero,’ said the others, kindly. ‘You’re too tiny.’ Dot put on her cape. ‘I will be the best tiny hero ever!’ she said. Her cape was a bit too big, and it dragged on the ground.
One morning, the alarm bell rang. DING-DONG! The town key had dropped through a grate. ‘Quick!’ said Lola. Lola tried to squeeze in, but she was too big. Cleo tried to reach in, but her arm was too short.
‘Let me try,’ said Dot. She puffed up her chest. She stood up straight. And she slid through the gap in the grate and fetched the key. It was a tight squeeze, but Dot did it!
Everybody cheered. ‘We couldn’t do that!’ said Lola. ‘Thank you, Dot!’ Cleo lifted Dot on her shoulders. ‘We need you,’ said Cleo. ‘You’re the only one who can fit.’
That evening, Dot sat on a rooftop looking at the glowing city. She smiled. Some days it’s good to be strong. Some days it’s good to be fast. And some days, it’s good to be small.
