Sandcastle Day with Tilly
Tilly builds a sandcastle, and the tide comes in. Oh no! Or maybe, oh yes!
It was a hot, sunny day at the beach. Tilly had a bucket and spade, and a big idea: to build the tallest sandcastle in the world. Ollie the lion said, ‘I’ll help!’
They dug and piled and patted. They built towers, walls and a moat. They decorated the top with seaweed flags. Jess the jellyfish peeked out of the waves and clapped a claw. ‘Splendid!’
But slowly, slowly, the sea crept closer. Swish, swish. A little wave touched the moat. A bigger wave touched the wall. ‘Oh no!’ cried Tilly. ‘The tide is coming in!’
Whoosh! The water washed over the castle, and it melted into smooth sand. Tilly stared. Then she laughed. ‘We’ll build another one tomorrow,’ she said. Jess nodded. ‘The sea will always bring more sand.’
The sun set, red and gold. Tilly sat on the sand, tired and happy. ‘Making it was the best bit,’ she said. And Ollie agreed.
The little lesson
