Opal woke up and the world was white. Snow had fallen in the night, thick and soft. ‘SNOW!’ shouted Opal. She put on her boots and ran outside.
Tara the turtle was already there. They rolled a big ball of snow for the body, and a middle ball, and a little ball for the head. Roll, roll, roll! They stacked them up.
For a nose, they used a stick. For a hat, they found a straw hat. For eyes, two shiny stones. ‘He needs a name,’ said Tara. ‘Mr Frost!’ said Opal.
They made snow angels and had a snowball fight. They slid down the hill on a tray. Their cheeks were pink and their noses were cold. ‘This is the best day!’ said Opal.
At night, Opal watched Mr Frost from the window. ‘Goodnight,’ she whispered. And with hot cocoa in hand, Opal dreamed of snow all night.
