Super Holly Saves the Day
All the big superheroes are too big to fit. But Holly is just the right size!
In Superhero City, there were many heroes. Pearl the pony was super strong. Yara the giraffe could run super fast. And Holly the hedgehog? Holly was very, very small.
‘You can’t be a superhero,’ said the others, kindly. ‘You’re too tiny.’ Holly put on her cape. ‘I will be the best tiny hero ever!’ she said. Her cape was a bit too big, and it dragged on the ground.
One morning, the alarm bell rang. DING-DONG! Grandma’s ring had rolled into a tiny crack in the floor. ‘Quick!’ said Pearl. Pearl tried to squeeze in, but she was too big. Yara tried to reach in, but her arm was too short.
‘Let me try,’ said Holly. She puffed up her chest. She stood up straight. And she wriggled into the crack and brought out the ring. It was a tight squeeze, but Holly did it!
Everybody cheered. ‘We couldn’t do that!’ said Pearl. ‘Thank you, Holly!’ Yara lifted Holly on her shoulders. ‘We need you,’ said Yara. ‘You’re the only one who can fit.’
That evening, Holly sat on a rooftop looking at the glowing city. She smiled. Some days it’s good to be strong. Some days it’s good to be fast. And some days, it’s good to be small.
