Tara Hunts the Missing Crown
The royal crown has vanished! Tara follows the clues round the castle.
One morning, Tara woke up and the royal crown was gone! It was not on its cushion. It was not under the bed. ‘Somebody has taken it,’ said Tara. ‘Come on, Kiki. Let’s find it.’
First, they found a trail of tiny, sparkly footprints on the floor. ‘Look!’ said Kiki. They followed the footprints up the stairs and down the corridor, round and round the castle.
Then Tara found a golden thread caught on a door. And then a shiny feather. And then a smudge of jam. Each clue was a little piece of the puzzle. Tara thought hard.
Finally the clues led to a toy chest in the nursery. And there was the crown! It had been taken by a baby who wanted to play king. It was only borrowed, not stolen.
Tara wasn’t cross. She gently took the crown back and gave Suki a shiny button to keep instead. Suki smiled and skipped away. Kiki said, ‘You’re a great detective, Tara.’
That evening, Tara put the crown safely on its cushion. She smiled. A good king or queen is not the one with the crown, but the one who stays calm and solves the problem.
