The Day Daisy Roared Too Loud
Daisy is a little monster who finds school very, very hard, until she discovers her own talent.
Daisy the dinosaur was starting Monster School. The classroom was full of little monsters. Nate the unicorn said, ‘Today, we will practise roaring.’ Everyone roared except Daisy.
Daisy tried to roar, but only a tiny squeak came out. The other monsters giggled. Daisy’s cheeks went purple. She wished she could disappear. Dot said, ‘Don’t worry. It takes practice.’
Next was stomping, and Daisy stomped too lightly. Then jumping, but Daisy bumped her head. Daisy felt like the worst monster ever. At lunchtime, she sat alone with a sandwich.
After lunch, Nate said, ‘Show us what you are best at.’ Daisy gulped. Then she sang a beautiful song. The class gasped. It was wonderful! Nobody else could do that.
‘You have a gift for singing,’ said Nate. Dot grinned. ‘Better than roaring!’ Daisy beamed. ‘I’m a good monster after all.’ And from then on, Daisy was a star of Monster School.
