The Rainbow Maker: Cosmo
Cosmo wonders where rainbows come from, and discovers how to make one at home.
After the rain, a rainbow arced across the sky. βWhere do rainbows come from?β Cosmo asked Felix the lamb. Felix didnβt know. So Cosmo decided to find out.
Cosmo read that rainbows happen when sunlight shines through raindrops. The light bends and splits into seven colours. βI could do that,β Cosmo thought, βat home!β
Cosmo stood in the sunlight with a garden hose. He held it up, and tilted it. Suddenly, the wall lit up with red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet! βA rainbow!β Cosmo cried.
Felix tried to catch the colours with his paws, but they slipped away. They laughed, and danced in the little rainbow until the sun slid behind a cloud.
That evening, Cosmo drew a picture of the rainbow in a notebook. βNow I know,β he wrote. βLight has all the colours inside it.β And Cosmo smiled, feeling like a real scientist.
