Vik Makes a Rainbow
Vik wonders where rainbows come from, and discovers how to make one at home.
After the rain, a rainbow arced across the sky. βWhere do rainbows come from?β Vik asked Sia the cow. Sia didnβt know. So Vik decided to find out.
Vik read that rainbows happen when sunlight shines through raindrops. The light bends and splits into seven colours. βI could do that,β Vik thought, βat home!β
Vik stood in the sunlight with a crystal. He held it up, and tilted it. Suddenly, the wall lit up with red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet! βA rainbow!β Vik cried.
Sia tried to catch the colours with her paws, but they slipped away. They laughed, and danced in the little rainbow until the sun slid behind a cloud.
That evening, Vik drew a picture of the rainbow in a notebook. βNow I know,β he wrote. βLight has all the colours inside it.β And Vik smiled, feeling like a real scientist.
