The Royal Tea Party of Toby
A dragon knocks at the castle door. Toby decides to be kind and invite it in for tea.
Knock, knock, KNOCK! Someone was at the castle door. Tara the tiger peeped through the window and gasped. ‘A dragon!’ she cried. ‘Everyone hide!’
But Toby was the bravest and kindest in the castle. He walked right up to the door and opened it. There stood Lena the dragon, holding a tiny bunch of flowers. ‘Hello,’ said Lena shyly. ‘Is it teatime?’
‘Oh!’ said Toby. ‘It is exactly teatime. Please come in.’ Tara nearly fainted, but Toby led Lena into the great hall and set the table with iced buns and berry tea.
Oh dear, Lena was a very big guest! Her tail knocked over a chair. Her sneeze blew out all the candles. But Lena said sorry every time, and Toby only laughed.
At last, Tara crept in. ‘I thought dragons were scary,’ she said. ‘This one is just lonely,’ said Toby. Tara sat down and took an iced buns. Soon the three of them were chatting like old friends.
When the stars came out, Lena stood up. ‘Thank you for the loveliest tea ever,’ she said. ‘Come back anytime,’ said Toby. And every Friday after that, the dragon came to tea.
