The trees were wearing red, orange and gold. All day, leaves floated down, tick, tick, tick. Faye and Zane the zebra took rakes to the garden. ‘Let’s make a leaf pile!’ said Faye.
They raked and raked. The pile grew as tall as Zane. Then as tall as Faye. Then Harvey the hedgehog popped out of the pile. ‘Surprise!’ he laughed. Harvey had been napping inside.
‘Let’s jump!’ said Faye. One, two, three, and WHOOSH! They flew into the leaves. Crunch! Leaves flew everywhere like confetti. They giggled so much they couldn’t stop.
When they were tired, they sat down and made a leaf lion from the prettiest leaves. Faye found a golden one the size of a plate. ‘Look at this!’ she cried.
As the sun went down, a gust of wind blew the leaf pile all over again. ‘Let’s do it again tomorrow!’ said Zane. And they did.
