The Royal Tea Party of Zane
A dragon knocks at the castle door. Zane decides to be kind and invite it in for tea.
Knock, knock, KNOCK! Someone was at the castle door. Kit the bear peeped through the window and gasped. ‘A dragon!’ he cried. ‘Everyone hide!’
But Zane was the bravest and kindest in the castle. He walked right up to the door and opened it. There stood Vik the dragon, holding a tiny bunch of flowers. ‘Hello,’ said Vik shyly. ‘Is it teatime?’
‘Oh!’ said Zane. ‘It is exactly teatime. Please come in.’ Kit nearly fainted, but Zane led Vik into the great hall and set the table with cherry pies and hot chocolate.
Oh dear, Vik was a very big guest! His tail knocked over a chair. His sneeze blew out all the candles. But Vik said sorry every time, and Zane only laughed.
At last, Kit crept in. ‘I thought dragons were scary,’ he said. ‘This one is just lonely,’ said Zane. Kit sat down and took a cherry pies. Soon the three of them were chatting like old friends.
When the stars came out, Vik stood up. ‘Thank you for the loveliest tea ever,’ he said. ‘Come back anytime,’ said Zane. And every Friday after that, the dragon came to tea.
