What Did Opal Bring?
It’s show and tell day at school. Opal has a mystery box. What’s inside?
It was show and tell day. Everyone had brought something special. Eli had a toy dinosaur. Another child had a big book. Opal held a little box tightly, with a secret inside.
‘Now, Opal,’ said Dani the deer. ‘What have you brought?’ Opal felt a bit shy. Her thing was so small. What if no one liked it? But she stood up bravely.
Opal opened the box very slowly. The whole class leaned forward. Inside was a feather! Opal said, ‘I found it on my walk to school. It made me smile, so I wanted to show you.’
‘Ooooh!’ said the children. Eli said, ‘Can I hold it?’ Everyone wanted to see. Opal passed it round carefully, and every face lit up with wonder.
‘What a lovely thing to share,’ said Dani. Opal beamed. The best things aren’t always big. Sometimes, they’re small and found by someone who looks closely.
