Where Is Kai?
Kai the octopus is the best hider in the sea. Can anybody find him?
Kai the octopus could do a clever trick. He could change colour to match anything! Today, he wanted to play hide-and-seek with Faye and Daisy.
‘One, two, three, four, five,’ counted Faye, covering his eyes. Kai wriggled away through the water. He swam to the grey rock. And he turned grey! His arms and body blended in.
Faye opened his eyes. ‘Ready or not, here I come!’ Faye swam over the sandy bed. ‘Are you under this shell? No.’ Faye looked behind the rock. ‘No.’ Faye looked inside a bottle. ‘No.’
Daisy looked up and down. ‘Where could Kai be?’ Daisy wondered. They looked all over the sea. Nothing. They looked a second time. Nothing. They were completely stumped.
Then Faye giggled. ‘I can see two eyes!’ Two big eyes were peeking out from the grey rock, and they were blinking. Kai burst out laughing, turned back to normal, and everyone cheered.
‘Your turn to hide!’ said Kai. And so they played again and again, until the water grew dark. They went home with tired fins and happy hearts, and all dreamed of colourful sea games.
