Where Is Kofi? Ask Cleo
Cleo is in charge of the class pet for the weekend, but it goes missing.
On Friday, Remy the pony said, ‘This weekend, Cleo will take Kofi the kitten home.’ Cleo was thrilled. She carried the cage home like treasure.
On Saturday morning, Cleo went to feed Kofi. The cage door was open! The cage was empty! Cleo’s heart fell. She had forgotten to latch it properly. Kofi was missing!
Cleo searched everywhere. She looked under the bed. She looked in the bath. Nothing. She wanted to hide the mistake. But Cleo knew that wouldn’t help Kofi. She called Isla.
‘I lost Kofi,’ Cleo said. Isla said, ‘Don’t panic. Let’s look together.’ They tiptoed through the house, whispering. And at last, they heard a tiny rustle inside a slipper.
There was Kofi, safe and sound, looking sleepy. Cleo scooped Kofi up gently, and checked the latch three times. On Monday, Cleo told Remy what had happened. ‘Thank you for being honest,’ said Remy.
‘We all make mistakes,’ said Remy. ‘Cleo fixed it, and that’s what counts.’ And from then on, Cleo was the most careful pet-minder in the class.
