Who Took Nico’s Cookies?
Someone has taken every cookie from the cookie jar! Idris the detective is on the case.
Idris the detective put on a hat and picked up a magnifying glass. ‘A case!’ he said. Nico the bear was standing in the kitchen with a very sad face. ‘Someone has taken all my cookies,’ said Nico.
‘First, we look for clues,’ said Idris. He knelt down and examined the floor. There was a trail of crumbs! ‘Aha,’ said Idris. He wrote it in his notebook. ‘Follow me.’
They followed the clue out of the back door and down the garden path. Past the rosebush. Past the old well. Round the corner, right up to a small blue shed. Nico gulped. ‘Someone’s inside!’
Idris knocked softly. The door creaked open. And there was Aisha the lion, wearing an apron, surrounded by plates and plates of cookies. ‘Oh!’ Aisha said. ‘You’ve found me!’
‘I’m so sorry,’ said Aisha. ‘I borrowed your cookies for the picnic for the old neighbours. I wanted to ask you, but you were out. I was going to bake some more to replace them.’ Nico blinked.
‘You could have just asked,’ said Nico. ‘I’d have baked more! That’s a very good thing to do.’ Idris closed the notebook. ‘Case closed,’ he said. ‘No crime here, only good cookies.’
So everybody helped bake the rest. And on the day of the picnic for the old neighbours, there were more than a hundred cookies to share. Idris was given the very first one, as payment for solving the case.
