The trees were wearing red, orange and gold. All day, leaves floated down, tick, tick, tick. Finn and Eli the puppy took rakes to the garden. ‘Let’s make a leaf pile!’ said Finn.
They raked and raked. The pile grew as tall as Eli. Then as tall as Finn. Then Milo the mouse popped out of the pile. ‘Surprise!’ he laughed. Milo had been napping inside.
‘Let’s jump!’ said Finn. One, two, three, and WHOOSH! They flew into the leaves. Crunch! Leaves flew everywhere like confetti. They giggled so much they couldn’t stop.
When they were tired, they sat down and made a leaf lion from the prettiest leaves. Finn found a golden one the size of a plate. ‘Look at this!’ he cried.
As the sun went down, a gust of wind blew the leaf pile all over again. ‘Let’s do it again tomorrow!’ said Eli. And they did.
