Daisy’s Sidekick Who Saved the Day
Captain Jamal has a bad cold and can’t use any superpowers. Sidekick Daisy has to save the day!
Captain Jamal the zebra was the strongest superhero in the city. She could lift buses and fly over buildings. And Daisy the duck was his sidekick, who always carried the snacks.
One morning, Captain Jamal woke up sneezing. ‘A-A-A-CHOO!’ He had a terrible cold. His nose was red and his cape was soggy. ‘I can’t fly,’ he sniffled. ‘I can’t lift anything.’
Just then, the alarm rang. DING-DONG! In the city, a pile of flour sacks was about to fall from a cart. ‘Quick, Daisy!’ said Captain Jamal, wiping his nose. ‘You’ll have to go.’ Daisy gulped. ‘Me?’
Daisy ran to the scene. A crowd had gathered, looking worried. Isaac the fox said, ‘Where’s the Captain?’ ‘He’s sick,’ said Daisy. ‘But I’m here. I’ll fix it!’
Daisy wasn’t strong, but she was clever. She looked at the problem from every side. Then she had an idea. She tied them up with a rope and held the end tight. And it worked!
The crowd burst into cheers. ‘Hooray for Daisy!’ they shouted. Daisy blushed so hard that her ears went pink. She had done it all herself.
Back home, Captain Jamal was sipping hot lemon. ‘You saved the day,’ said Jamal, between sneezes. ‘From now on, you’re not a sidekick. You’re my partner.’ And Daisy got a brand-new cape with a golden star.
