Danny Hunts the Missing Crown
The royal crown has vanished! Danny follows the clues round the castle.
One morning, Danny woke up and the royal crown was gone! It was not on its cushion. It was not under the bed. ‘Somebody has taken it,’ said Danny. ‘Come on, Harvey. Let’s find it.’
First, they found a trail of tiny, sparkly footprints on the floor. ‘Look!’ said Harvey. They followed the footprints up the stairs and down the corridor, round and round the castle.
Then Danny found a golden thread caught on a door. And then a shiny feather. And then a smudge of jam. Each clue was a little piece of the puzzle. Danny thought hard.
Finally the clues led to a nest high in the tower. And there was the crown! It had been taken by a magpie who loves shiny things. It was only borrowed, not stolen.
Danny wasn’t cross. He gently took the crown back and gave Bella a shiny button to keep instead. Bella smiled and skipped away. Harvey said, ‘You’re a great detective, Danny.’
That evening, Danny put the crown safely on its cushion. He smiled. A good king or queen is not the one with the crown, but the one who stays calm and solves the problem.
