Danny’s Night with the Dinosaurs

It’s Danny the dinosaur’s first sleepover, and the dark seems very big.

Danny the dinosaur was having a sleepover! Louie the snail and Benji the bee were coming, and they’d brought pillows, blankets and teddies.

First, they built a blanket fort. Then they had a midnight feast of toasted marshmallows. Danny laughed so much that his big tail knocked over the lamp.

Then it was time for bed. Danny climbed into his big, comfy bed. ‘Goodnight,’ said Louie. ‘Goodnight,’ said Benji. The light went off, and the room became very dark.

Danny lay awake. He thought about how very big and dark the night was. His tail twitched. ‘Are you awake?’ whispered Louie. ‘I can’t sleep,’ said Danny.

‘I can’t either,’ said Benji. ‘I have an idea,’ said Louie, and pulled out a little star lamp. The room filled with a warm, soft glow. The dark didn’t feel big anymore.

The three friends snuggled together, looking at the light until their eyes grew heavy. Soon, all that could be heard was three tiny snores. And one great big dino snore.
