Gia and the Very Polite Dragon

A dragon knocks at the castle door. Gia decides to be kind and invite it in for tea.

Knock, knock, KNOCK! Someone was at the castle door. Arjun the giraffe peeped through the window and gasped. ‘A dragon!’ he cried. ‘Everyone hide!’

But Gia was the bravest and kindest in the castle. She walked right up to the door and opened it. There stood Dylan the dragon, holding a tiny bunch of flowers. ‘Hello,’ said Dylan shyly. ‘Is it teatime?’

‘Oh!’ said Gia. ‘It is exactly teatime. Please come in.’ Arjun nearly fainted, but Gia led Dylan into the great hall and set the table with iced buns and apple juice.

Oh dear, Dylan was a very big guest! His tail knocked over a chair. His sneeze blew out all the candles. But Dylan said sorry every time, and Gia only laughed.

At last, Arjun crept in. ‘I thought dragons were scary,’ he said. ‘This one is just lonely,’ said Gia. Arjun sat down and took an iced buns. Soon the three of them were chatting like old friends.

When the stars came out, Dylan stood up. ‘Thank you for the loveliest tea ever,’ he said. ‘Come back anytime,’ said Gia. And every Friday after that, the dragon came to tea.
