Mia’s Hat That Flew Away
A gust of wind blows Mia’s hat away, and it lands in some very silly places.
Mia the mouse had a new yellow sun hat. It was the best hat in the whole world. Mia wore it to the park and spun round and round. ‘Look at me!’ she cried.
But then, WHOOSH! A strong gust of wind blew by and plucked the hat right off Mia’s head! It flew up, up, up into the sky. ‘My hat!’ shouted Mia. ‘Come back!’
Mia ran after it. The hat sailed over the fence and landed on a snoozing duck. ‘Oh dear,’ said Theo, who had come running. ‘How will we get it back?’ But then WHOOSH! The hat blew away again.
It bounced on a haystack. It spun round the weather vane. It dropped into a bucket and flipped out again. Mia, Theo and Cosmo the cow chased it everywhere.
At last, the wind got tired. The hat drifted down, down, down, and landed with a soft plop on Mia’s head, right where it belonged. Everybody stared. Then everybody cheered!
‘I think the wind just wanted to dance,’ laughed Theo. Mia took a ribbon and tied it under her chin. Now the hat would stay on. And if the wind wanted to dance again, Mia would dance with it.
