Help, Zara’s Hair Won’t Behave!
Zara’s hair will not lie flat. Nothing works! What will happen at school photo day?
It was school photo day, and Zara woke up to find that her hair was sticking up like a bird’s nest. There were curls. There were spikes. There was even a tuft that pointed at the ceiling.
Zara tried to flatten it with a hairdryer. But the hair just made it even wilder. ‘Oh no,’ she groaned. ‘I can’t go to school like this!’ She tried again. And again.
By the time Zara gave up, her hair was wilder than ever. She went to school with her hood pulled right down. But at the school gate, Elsa the cow spotted her.
‘Why are you wearing your hood?’ asked Elsa. Zara sighed and pulled it down. Everyone gasped. Then Elsa grinned. ‘That’s AMAZING! It looks like a lion’s mane! Can I touch it?’
Soon, a crowd gathered. Pip the pony said, ‘It looks like a firework!’ Someone else said it looked like a sunflower. Zara began to smile. She felt a bit like a celebrity.
Photo time came. The photographer sat everyone in rows. ‘Smile!’ She flashed. And in the photo, Zara sat in the middle with a huge grin, her hair standing up like a crown.
Everyone loved the photo. Some of the other children tried to copy Zara’s hairstyle the next day. And Zara learned something: sometimes the thing you think is a problem is just a different kind of wonderful.
