Rufus and the Missing Boot
It’s match day, but Rufus can only find one boot. Where could it be?
It was match day! Rufus woke up early and pulled on his shirt. But where was his left boot? He had one boot. Only one boot!
Rufus looked under the bed. No boot. He looked in the cupboard. No boot. He even looked in the shoe box. Just one very surprised sock.
Outside, Flo the frog came bouncing along the path. ‘Why the long face?’ asked Flo. ‘I can’t find my boot,’ sighed Rufus. ‘Let’s look together!’
They looked high and low. Flo peeked this way. Rufus peeked that way. Then Flo gave a great big gasp. ‘Look! Look!’
There was the missing boot, behind the sofa cushions! ‘It was having a little rest!’ giggled Flo. Rufus laughed so hard he got the hiccups.
Rufus laced up both boots, tie, tie, tie, and the two friends raced off to Willow Green. They arrived just as the whistle was about to blow.
Rufus played the best game ever. Both boots on, both feet happy. And after the game, Rufus put his boots right by the door, side by side.
