The Clever Amy

Amy is thirsty, but the water is too low in the jug. A clever idea saves the day!

It was a hot, dry day. Amy the owl was very thirsty. She flew and flew, but all the ponds had dried up. At last, she spotted a jug under a tree.

Amy peeked inside. There was water, but only at the very bottom. Her beak couldn’t reach. She tried to tip the jug, but it was too heavy. Amy was sad and tired.

Then Amy had a clever idea. She picked up a pebble and dropped it in. Plink! The water rose a little. Amy dropped another. Plink! And another.

Plink, plink, plink! Soon the water rose to the top. Amy dipped her beak and drank, and drank. β€˜Ahh,’ sighed Amy. β€˜Thinking helps more than worrying.’
