The Spooky House on Arjun’s Street
Arjun and friends dare each other to look inside the spooky house. What they find is a surprise.
At the end of the street stood a tall, dark house with creaky shutters and a crooked door. Everyone said it was haunted. One windy evening, Sana dared Arjun to knock.
Arjun gulped, but nodded. They crept up the path, step by step. The gate squeaked. A shutter banged. Something moved behind the curtain. They held hands tightly.
Arjun knocked. The door creaked slowly open. A tall shadow appeared. ‘Hello?’ it said. They screamed! But it was only Danny the turtle, holding a plate of cat biscuits.
‘Don’t be frightened,’ said Danny. ‘Come in, come in.’ Inside it was warm and bright. They met a lonely old lady with a hundred cats. ‘We thought you were a ghost!’ laughed Sana. ‘I get that a lot,’ said Danny.
They stayed for hours, eating cat biscuits and hearing stories. When they left, Arjun said, ‘Thank you for having us.’ ‘Come back anytime,’ said Danny. And the house never seemed spooky again.
