The Spooky House on Noah’s Street
Noah and friends dare each other to look inside the spooky house. What they find is a surprise.
At the end of the street stood a tall, dark house with creaky shutters and a crooked door. Everyone said it was haunted. One windy evening, Benji dared Noah to knock.
Noah gulped, but nodded. They crept up the path, step by step. The gate squeaked. A shutter banged. Something moved behind the curtain. They held hands tightly.
Noah knocked. The door creaked slowly open. A tall shadow appeared. ‘Hello?’ it said. They screamed! But it was only Tessa the turtle, holding a plate of oil and toast.
‘Don’t be frightened,’ said Tessa. ‘Come in, come in.’ Inside it was warm and bright. They met a kind inventor with a robot. ‘We thought you were a ghost!’ laughed Benji. ‘I get that a lot,’ said Tessa.
They stayed for hours, eating oil and toast and hearing stories. When they left, Noah said, ‘Thank you for having us.’ ‘Come back anytime,’ said Tessa. And the house never seemed spooky again.
The little lesson
Don’t judge a place or person by looks.
Let’s talk about it
- What did they expect to find?
- What did they actually find?
