Yuki Brings a Surprise
It’s show and tell day at school. Yuki has a mystery box. What’s inside?
It was show and tell day. Everyone had brought something special. Jamal had a toy dinosaur. Another child had a big book. Yuki held a little box tightly, with a secret inside.
‘Now, Yuki,’ said Juno the pony. ‘What have you brought?’ Yuki felt a bit shy. Her thing was so small. What if no one liked it? But she stood up bravely.
Yuki opened the box very slowly. The whole class leaned forward. Inside was a pine cone! Yuki said, ‘I found it on my walk to school. It made me smile, so I wanted to show you.’
‘Ooooh!’ said the children. Jamal said, ‘Can I hold it?’ Everyone wanted to see. Yuki passed it round carefully, and every face lit up with wonder.
‘What a lovely thing to share,’ said Juno. Yuki beamed. The best things aren’t always big. Sometimes, they’re small and found by someone who looks closely.
