Zane’s Picnic That Blew Away

A big gust of wind takes the picnic away. Can the friends catch it?

It was a lovely sunny day, and Zane the zebra, Rufus the raccoon and Poppy the puppy were having a picnic. They had a big strawberry cake!

But then, WHOOSH! A big gust of wind blew across the meadow. The picnic blanket flew up, up, up, and away went a big strawberry cake!

‘Stop!’ cried Zane. The friends ran after the picnic. They ran over the hill. They ran around the pond. They ran under the big old tree.

Rufus jumped and missed. Poppy leapt and landed in a bush. Zane tripped over a log and rolled down the hill, giggling all the way.

Finally, the wind stopped. The picnic blanket drifted down onto the top of the hill, and landed with a soft flop. There was only a little bit left, with grass all over it.

‘It’s a bit squished,’ said Poppy. ‘And a bit leafy,’ said Rufus. ‘But it’s still delicious!’ laughed Zane. They shared every crumb together as the sun went down.
