Danny Plants a Tiny Seed
Danny plants a seed and waits. And waits. And waits some more.
In spring, Freddie the elephant gave Danny a tiny seed. βItβs a strawberry plant,β said Freddie. βPlant it in the soil, give it water and sun, and be patient.β Danny dug a little hole.
Every morning, Danny ran to look. Nothing. Not even a sprout. βIs it broken?β he asked Iris. βPlants take time,β said Iris. Danny sighed, but watered the soil once more.
A week passed. Then two. Then, one morning, Danny saw something green poking up. A tiny shoot, no bigger than a thumb. Danny gasped. βItβs growing!β Iris danced round and round.
Soon the shoot was a stem, with leaves and then a bud. Danny watered it, sang to it and shielded it from the wind. And one sunny day, the bud opened, and there was a beautiful strawberry plant.
βYou waited so patiently,β said Freddie. Danny smiled at the strawberry plant. βIt was worth every day,β he said. And he saved a seed for next spring.
