Dylan Goes to Monster School
Dylan is a little monster who finds school very, very hard, until he discovers his own talent.
Dylan the dragon was starting Monster School. The classroom was full of little monsters. Uma the unicorn said, ‘Today, we will practise roaring.’ Everyone roared except Dylan.
Dylan tried to roar, but only a tiny squeak came out. The other monsters giggled. Dylan’s cheeks went purple. He wished he could disappear. Dot said, ‘Don’t worry. It takes practice.’
Next was stomping, and Dylan stomped too lightly. Then jumping, but Dylan bumped his head. Dylan felt like the worst monster ever. At lunchtime, he sat alone with a sandwich.
After lunch, Uma said, ‘Show us what you are best at.’ Dylan gulped. Then he sang a beautiful song. The class gasped. It was wonderful! Nobody else could do that.
‘You have a gift for singing,’ said Uma. Dot grinned. ‘Better than roaring!’ Dylan beamed. ‘I’m a good monster after all.’ And from then on, Dylan was a star of Monster School.
