It was a hot, dry day. Omar the deer was very thirsty. He flew and flew, but all the ponds had dried up. At last, he spotted a jug under a tree.
Omar peeked inside. There was water, but only at the very bottom. His beak couldn’t reach. He tried to tip the jug, but it was too heavy. Omar was sad and tired.
Then Omar had a clever idea. He picked up a pebble and dropped it in. Plink! The water rose a little. Omar dropped another. Plink! And another.
Plink, plink, plink! Soon the water rose to the top. Omar dipped his beak and drank, and drank. ‘Ahh,’ sighed Omar. ‘Thinking helps more than worrying.’
